About the Role

The Junior Pastry Chef supports the pastry team in the daily preparation and execution of high-quality desserts, breads, and pastry components for restaurant service. This role is ideal for a passionate pastry professional at the early stage of their career who is eager to learn, refine technique, and grow within a world-class culinary environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the daily preparation, production, and execution of desserts, petit fours, breads, and pastry components for lunch and dinner service.
  • Support senior pastry chefs during service to ensure timely, consistent, and high-quality plating.
  • Carry out precise mise en place following established recipes, techniques, and portion standards.
  • Contribute to the preparation of elements such as creams, mousses, gels, ice creams, sorbets, doughs, and baked goods.
  • Ensure all pastry items meet presentation, flavor, and texture expectations before service.
  • Maintain strict adherence to food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards at all times.
  • Properly store, label, and rotate ingredients and finished products in accordance with kitchen procedures.
  • Assist with inventory checks, basic stock control, and minimizing food waste.
  • Participate in menu development sessions, tastings, and trials when required.
  • Follow daily production schedules and complete assigned tasks efficiently within deadlines.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, equipment, and storage areas.
  • Support other kitchen sections when necessary to ensure smooth overall operations.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, discipline, and respect within a high-performance kitchen environment.
  • Continuously seek improvement in technical skills, efficiency, and product knowledge.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Formal culinary or pastry training preferred
  • 1–2 years of experience in a professional kitchen or fine-dining environment is an advantage
  • Strong interest in pastry arts, desserts, and modern techniques
  • Good understanding of kitchen hygiene, food safety, and HACCP standards
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and during service hours
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn
  • Team-oriented mindset with attention to detail
