Position Overview:
We are looking for a dynamic, service-driven Restaurant Manager to lead the operations of our well-established premium dining concept in Shanghai. This is an ideal opportunity for a hospitality professional with a passion for food, people development, and delivering world-class guest experiences in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership
- Promote and act in alignment with the mission and values of the company.
- Oversee all daily operations of the restaurant, including guest service, food and beverage quality, cleanliness, and atmosphere.
- Monitor compliance with health, safety, sanitation, and food safety regulations.
- Ensure a consistent and high-level guest experience during all shifts.
Team Management
- Recruit, train, supervise, and retain restaurant staff.
- Create and manage staff schedules in line with labor targets and business forecasts.
- Conduct regular team meetings to communicate service goals, expectations, and company updates.
- Provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and disciplinary action when necessary.
Financial Oversight
- Review daily sales reports, labor costs, and other KPIs to ensure alignment with operational goals.
- Monitor and control food, beverage, and labor costs within established budgets.
- Work with vendors and suppliers to ensure effective purchasing and inventory control practices.
- Assist in budget planning, forecasting, and cost reduction initiatives.
Guest Relations
- Ensure all guests are greeted promptly, warmly, and professionally.
- Respond to guest concerns or complaints with solutions-focused action.
- Maintain a visible presence on the floor, particularly during peak periods.
Training & Development
- Identify training needs and support onboarding and ongoing development of staff.
- Uphold and enforce operational standards, service protocols, and hospitality practices.
- Ensure all team members are knowledgeable about menu items, allergens, and service policies.
Reporting & Communication
- Provide regular reports to upper management, including daily summaries, incident reports, and monthly performance updates.
- Communicate effectively with the kitchen, bar, and support departments to ensure smooth coordination.
- Collaborate with area or corporate management on initiatives, new procedures, and performance reviews.
Supplemental Responsibilities:
- Assist with new menu rollouts, promotions, and internal marketing campaigns.
- Contribute to facility maintenance, renovation planning, or layout adjustments.
- Support the execution of private events or special dining experiences.
- Troubleshoot minor technical issues, including those related to POS or reservations software.
Tools & Technology:
Experience or familiarity with the following tools and platforms is a plus:
- POS Systems: Aloha, MICROS, Toast, or similar
- Scheduling Software: espSoftware, Deputy, or similar
- Inventory & Ordering: FoodCo, ChefTec, or equivalent
- Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint
- Timekeeping & Payroll: Aestiva or related platforms
- Digital Communication Tools: Outlook, Slack, WhatsApp
- Food Safety Management Software (if applicable)
Qualifications:
- 3–5 years of experience as a Restaurant Manager or similar role in a full-service or premium dining environment.
- Strong understanding of restaurant operations, service excellence, and hospitality standards.
- Experience managing and developing teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Solid knowledge of financial metrics, inventory control, and cost management.
- Fluent in Mandarin; English proficiency preferred.
- Food safety certification (ServSafe or local equivalent) is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
