We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Assistant General Manager to support the leadership team in delivering operational excellence, developing high-performing teams, and ensuring every guest enjoys a memorable experience.
The Role:
The Assistant General Manager will work closely with the General Manager to oversee all aspects of the restaurant’s daily operation, ensuring exceptional service standards, strong financial performance, efficient operational management, and a positive team culture.
This is a hands-on leadership position suited to an experienced hospitality professional who thrives in premium dining environments and enjoys balancing guest engagement, team development, and commercial performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership
- Support the General Manager in the overall operation of the restaurant, ensuring smooth and efficient daily service.
- Maintain exceptional standards of food quality, service delivery, cleanliness, and presentation throughout all guest touchpoints.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, hygiene, and company operating procedures.
- Monitor inventory levels, stock control, and purchasing activities to minimise waste and maximise efficiency.
- Lead service periods when required and act as Manager on Duty in the General Manager’s absence.
Guest Experience
- Champion a culture of genuine hospitality and personalised service.
- Ensure every guest receives a memorable dining experience that reflects the restaurant’s premium positioning.
- Proactively manage guest feedback and resolve concerns professionally and effectively.
- Identify opportunities to elevate service standards and enhance guest satisfaction and loyalty.
Financial Performance
- Assist in managing budgets, forecasts, and operational expenses.
- Monitor key performance indicators including sales, labour costs, food costs, and profitability.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiencies and maximise revenue while maintaining service excellence.
- Support the preparation of regular operational and financial reports.
Team Leadership & Development
- Recruit, train, mentor, and develop supervisors and team members.
- Foster a positive, high-performance culture built on accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and development support.
- Lead by example, inspiring teams to consistently exceed guest expectations.
Business Growth & Brand Development
- Support the implementation of strategic initiatives and business objectives.
- Collaborate with culinary, marketing, and operations teams to enhance the guest offering and strengthen brand positioning.
- Assist with special events, promotional activities, seasonal campaigns, and new product launches.
- Contribute ideas and market insights that support business growth and innovation.
Candidate Profile:
Essential Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in restaurant, luxury hospitality, or premium dining operations.
- At least 2 years’ experience in a management or senior leadership role.
- Strong understanding of restaurant financials, operational controls, and performance management.
- Exceptional guest service and relationship-building skills.
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop high-performing teams.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Fluent English communication skills, both written and spoken.
Preferred:
- Experience within upscale, fine dining, luxury hospitality, or internationally recognised restaurant brands.
- Previous experience opening new concepts or supporting business growth initiatives.
- Familiarity with French cuisine, European dining standards, or premium lifestyle brands.
