The Sous chef is a vital position in a professional kitchen, assisting the Executive chef. The Sous chef is responsible for the day-to-day culinary operations in a professional kitchen. Functions include menu creation, food purchasing, and maintenance of quality standards.

Sous Chef Responsibilities:

  • Manage all activities in the kitchen, including food preparation and production, and management and training of kitchen staff
  • Ensuring the daily production schedule is completed on time
  • Supervise and inspect all preparation and cooking equipment on a regular basis to ensure that they are kept clean, sanitary, and in perfect operating order
  • Ensure the cleaning schedule is adhered to and that cleaning tasks are delegated as appropriate.
  • Coordinate daily tasks with the Head Chef on requirements, functions, production, and last-minute events
  • Responsible for receiving and cross-checking the stocks coming from central stores.
  • Coordinate with catering coordinator for orders.
  • Coordinate with purchasing department to ensure enough materials or available for production
  • Ensure efficient, cost-effective operation and profitability of food production
  • Ensure the dishes are prepared and served to the specific company standards.
  • Assure kitchen personnel is trained in the best cleanliness and sanitation practices
  • Any task assigned by management or your supervisor.

Sous Chef Requirements:

  • Must have 4-5 years of Jr. Sous chef or Sous chef experience with a fine dining restaurant in UAE
  • Must have Senior Secondary/Graduate degree
  •  Must have good computer skills, and must be able to lead a team effectively
